Your philosophy of life?

Swami Vivekananda said, “Take up one idea, make that idea your life. Think of it, dream of it, live on that idea. This is the way to success.” The ideologies of great Swami Vivekananda inspired me when I was a teenager and a strong burning desire led to the birth of BVG (Bharat Vikas Group) in 1997. Our purpose is simple – the relentless pursuit of the progress of the country and the world, through the empowerment of the blue-collared workforce. My vision is to positively impact 10 crore lives by 2030.

What is your routine like?

I am among those who believe that the secret of your success is found in your daily routine. Successful people do daily what others do occasionally! You will never change your life until you change something you do daily. I feel that the routine is powerful as long as you are disciplined enough to nurture good habits and celebrate life and its wonders. My daily routine is to make every day the best day of my life. And every day in every way I am becoming better and better.

Your defining moments?

Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away. My most defining moments were those where I defied myself and all odds to dare to dream and do things differently. My first defining moment in life was when I decided to continue with my engineering degree studies even after my father passed away. Another one was when I saved crores for Tata Motors through a cost-saving initiative, which led to the management allowing me to handle facilities management for the company. Another defining moment was when I borrowed an amount which was 2-3x my profits to buy equipment so that we could get the Parliament House and its library maintenance contract despite not having long-term contract. I took risks but we triumphed in the end.

How do you strike a balance between your various passions?

The passions are like fire – useful in a thousand ways; harmful in only one – in their excesses! Balance is a feeling derived from being whole and complete; it’s a sense of harmony. It is essential to maintaining quality in life and work. Balance has to be achieved now or never!

Personality traits not widely known?

I am an open book and there are no secrets that time does not reveal. And there are no secrets to success – it is the result of preparation, hard work, and learning from failure. My attitude is a reflection of my personality and my personality traits define my outer and inner reality.

Any regrets that you wish to share?

Life is short – there is no time for regrets. At this stage of my life, my dreams and aspirations outnumber regrets. I take pride and peace in giving my best and therefore regret has no place. Decision taking, deeds and action are more important than regrets. Everything led me to the place where I am now so no regrets. It’s my script and I take responsibility for my thoughts, deeds and words.
