The National Internet Exchange of India (NIXI) has launched four new digital platforms, including an AI-powered WHOIS screening system, as part of efforts to strengthen India’s internet infrastructure, improve transparency, and enhance domain security.

The initiatives were unveiled during NIXI’s 23rd Foundation Day celebrations by S. Krishnan, who also serves as Chairman of NIXI.

The newly launched platforms include the IX Portal, myIRINN Portal, Auction Portal, and the AI-Powered WHOIS Screening Platform.

According to NIXI, the platforms have been developed to improve user experience, streamline operations, increase transparency, and strengthen monitoring and verification processes across India’s internet ecosystem.

Among the new initiatives, the AI-powered WHOIS screening platform is expected to play a key role in improving domain security by identifying suspicious websites and helping safeguard India’s growing digital infrastructure.

Speaking at the event, Krishnan highlighted the importance of building a secure and resilient internet ecosystem as digital technologies become increasingly integrated into everyday life.

“As digital technologies become deeply integrated into our daily lives, building trust, resilience and security across the Internet ecosystem becomes increasingly important. NIXI has played a vital role in strengthening India’s Internet infrastructure while enabling greater participation in global Internet governance discussions,” he said.

He added that efforts must continue to ensure the internet remains safe, reliable, and accessible for all users.

The event brought together policymakers, technology experts, industry leaders, academics, and members of the internet community to discuss the future of India’s digital economy and internet-led growth.

Highlighting India’s growing influence in global internet governance, Samiran Gupta said the country must continue strengthening its participation in international discussions on internet standards and governance.

Gupta noted that initiatives such as the NIXI Fellowship Programme are helping develop future internet leaders and contributing to India’s digital progress.

Sushil Pal said programmes that encourage participation in global internet forums are helping build the next generation of leaders who will shape a secure, inclusive, and resilient digital future.

NIXI Chief Executive Officer Devesh Tyagi said the next phase of India’s internet growth will be driven by trust, innovation, and broader participation across the country.

“Going forward, it’s not only about getting people online. It’s about giving citizens, businesses, startups, and institutions real chances to grow in a digital-first world,” he said.

NIXI also shared key milestones achieved by the organisation.

According to the organisation, it currently manages more than 39 lakh domain names, operates 79 Internet Exchange Points across India, and supports domain registrations in 22 Indian languages.

The organisation further noted that India’s adoption of IPv6 has reached approximately 78.34 percent, placing the country among global leaders in the transition to the next-generation internet protocol.
